Clip Description

Hedgehogs are adorable creatures that are famous for their prickly spines. When sleeping or feeling threatened, they roll into a tight ball, tucking in their head, tail and legs. The spines act like a knight’s suit of armour, protecting vulnerable parts of their body. As the name suggests, hedgehogs are often found near hedgerows.

In this fascinating clip, we meet ‘Hedgehog Lady’, who has made it her mission to rescue hedgehogs that are too weak to fend for themselves. With the help of Thea, we see how they are cared for before being returned to the wild or, in the case of one particular hog, the back garden where it was found.
