Clip Description
The secretive sun bear is the smallest of all the different bear species. It gets its name from the golden patch on its chest. Legends say that this patch represents the rising sun. The sun bear has an extremely long tongue that can extract honey from deep inside a bee nest. Because of this, sun bears are nicknamed ‘honey bears.’
In this fascinating clip, a sun bear is determined to eat some delicious honey, which is sitting in a treetop. To reach the honey, she must first climb upwards for over 40 metres. Fortunately, her small size, sharp claws and rough pads enable the hungry bear to reach the top and claim her prize. Will getting down be easy as getting up? Watch the clip to find out.
