Bison, which are North America’s largest animals, have lived continuously since prehistoric times. Their muscular humps and heavy bodies allow them to defend themselves from other bison by barging them out of the way.

In this fascinating clip, which was filmed in Yellowstone National Park, two male bison go head to head in a display of strength. It is an amazing spectacle and one that visitors to the park are advised to watch from afar. Why do you think the male bison are battling each other? Watch the clip to find out.
