Writing Ideas

  • Watch the related clip below. It shows two salt flat lizards fighting. Imagine that you are a salt flat lizard onlooker. You are deeply saddened by your fellow lizards’ aggressive behaviour. Write a speech that will convince them to find a more peaceful solution to their territorial dispute.
  • A salt flat lizard has gone missing. Create a ‘Have you seen this lizard?’ poster. Include a detailed description of what the lizard looks like and where it was last seen. Don’t forget to use a dictionary to help you with both the spelling and meaning of adventurous words.
  • Kennings are phrases of two words that replace a noun. The two words are often joined by a hyphen, and the second word often ends in ‘-er.’ For example, a sheep might be described as a ‘wool-wearer’ or a lizard could be a ‘fly-trapper.’ Write a kenning poem about a salt flat lizard.
