1) Clark’s grebes live on large, inland lakes in western North America. They dive for their food. In the winter, they migrate to the Pacific coast.

2) Clark’s grebes feed mostly on fish, but they also eat salamanders, crustaceans, marine worms, grasshoppers and aquatic insects. They build floating nests near to the water’s edge. When prey is found, the bird quickly jabs it with its spear-like beak.
