1) Seahorses use their long snouts like vacuum cleaners to suck up food. Because they do not have stomachs, they must eat constantly to stay alive. Seahorses face many threats in the wild. Their diet consists of tiny sea creatures called copepods.

2) Like all seahorses, pygmy seahorses give birth to live young. Unusually, it is the father, and not the mother, who gives birth to baby seahorses. Seahorses can change colour quickly to match their surroundings. The babies (known as fry) develop inside the father’s brood pouch. Here, they receive everything they need to grow such as oxygen and food.
