Writing Ideas

  • Write a set of instructions explaining how to find the word ‘protected’ in the dictionary.
  • Create a quiz about some of the words connected to the Weddell seals using a piece of true information and an invented one. Can your classmates work out which meaning is true and which isn’t?
  • A kenning is a way of describing something in poetry without saying directly what you are describing. For example a sheep might be described as a ‘wool wearer’ or a tree could be a ‘leaf bearer.’ Using some strong words (use a dictionary to help you), write a kenning poem to describe the Weddell seals.
