Writing Ideas

  • Write a conversation between the two bark spiders that confronted each other in the middle of the silk bridging line. Don’t forget to proofread your writing. There’s a lot of punctuation to think about when writing direct speech!
  • Spiders aren’t six- legged insects; they are eight-legged arachnids. Can you write an octave poem about a Darwin bark spider that has 8 lines. Perhaps each line could contain 8 words or even 8 syllables?
  • Read the short moral story, King Bruce and the Spider (anon). Can you write your own moral story that is based around a character learning from the resilience and perseverance needed by  a spider when it makes its web?
