Clip Description

Dung beetles can be found on every continent except Antarctica. There are three types of dung beetle – rollers, tunnellers and dwellers – each named for the way they use the poop they find!

In this fascinating clip, a determined dung beetle is filmed rolling a ball of camel dung across the unforgiving Sahara Desert. Despite being able to roll balls which are over 1,000 times its own body weight, this particular beetle seems to have bitten off more than it can chew! Watch the clip to find out why.
