Clip Description

Orangutans, with their distinctive orange fur, are the largest tree-dwelling animals on Earth. They live in the tropical rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo in Southeast Asia.

In this fascinating clip, a mother orangutan teaches her daughter how to survive in Sumatra’s rainforest canopy. Her lessons include the following: teaching which insect nests are safe to raid, learning how to judge when a fruit is ripe enough to eat and discovering how to make both shelters and nests.
