Clip Description
The golden-wheel spider is a member of the huntsman spider family. It is a nocturnal predator that uses speed to catch its prey rather than spinning a web. It can be found in the Namib Desert – a vast coastal desert in southern Africa.
In this fascinating clip, a golden-wheel spider comes face-to-face with a pompilid wasp, who is intent on laying an egg inside the arachnid’s body! Fortunately, the golden-wheel spider has an ingenious escape plan. What do you think this might be? (The clue is in this spider’s name.)
