Clip Description

Often called the polar wolf or white wolf, the Arctic wolf inhabits remote areas of North America and Greenland. A subspecies of the grey wolf, the Arctic wolf has a thick, insulating white coat to keep it warm. It is smaller and has shorter legs, smaller ears and a shorter muzzle than other types of wolves. It is carnivorous and eats caribou, Arctic foxes, muskoxen, lemmings and seals.

In this fascinating clip, wildlife presenter Gordon Buchanan gets so close to one particularly bold Arctic wolf that he can almost stroke it. This is what it would have been like 10,000 years ago before people began taming and domesticating animals. What do you think will happen when Gordon throws a stick for the wolf? Watch the clip to find out.
