Further Challenges

  • In a single week, Otto (the European otter) caught and ate 16 fish. This number of fish was 4/5 of Otto’s total catch for the week. (The other creatures that he caught were a mixture of frogs, birds and crustaceans). How many creatures did Otto catch and eat in total on this particular week?
  • The fabulous Fraction Match (which appears on the NRICH website) can be used to help children build their teamwork skills, whilst demonstrating an understanding of common fractions (halves, thirds and quarters).
