Clip Description

A firefly is a remarkable beetle that can produce light inside its own body. This superpower is called bioluminescence. Whilst the larvae of fireflies glow to warn predatars that they are inedible, adults use flashes of light to communicate with each other.

In this fascinating clip, children living on the island of Honshu (Japan) marvel at the light show created by fireflies as they emerge from the darkness in search of a mate. How close will the children get to these remarkable insects? Watch the clip to find out.
