Have you ever seen a human sunbathing? Reptiles, like lizards, snakes, turtles and crocodiles, need sunlight to warm their bodies because they are cold-blooded. They use the sun’s heat to have enough energy to move, hunt and survive. All reptiles are vertebrates (they have a backbone) and most of them lay leathery eggs and have tough, scaly skin.
