Morning Starters: Spring 2 - Desert Life

Wednesday

Did You Know?

Have you ever planted a seed and waited for it to grow? In the Sonoran Desert, seeds of the saguaro cactus face a much harder challenge. Towering up to 10 metres tall, these giant cacti start life as tiny seeds with only a slim chance of survival—millions to one. White doves, busy ants, and hungry tortoises all help by spreading the seeds around. Thanks to these desert helpers, some seeds grow into the enormous, prickly saguaros that rise high above the desert floor.
