Have you ever been gently carried by a parent to keep you safe? Nile crocodiles do something similar with their hatchlings. After the eggs are buried in warm sand to develop, the tiny reptiles hatch out. The mother, often thought of as fierce, gently carries her babies in her mouth to the safety of the river. This careful start gives the hatchlings a better chance to survive in their watery world.
