Did You Know?

Have you ever pulled up a carrot or beetroot from the ground? Those are plant roots, which anchor plants in the soil and absorb water and nutrients. People use roots for food, medicine, and even dyes. In India, roots have an extra special use: they are trained and woven into living bridges. These incredible tree-root bridges stretch across rivers, strong and flexible, and may soon become recognised as World Heritage Sites.
