September: Recycle Week
Recycle Week

Did you know?
Have you ever recycled a tin can, a plastic bottle or a piece of cardboard? Recycling means turning the materials from old, unwanted items into new products. It’s a great way to help planet Earth, as it saves energy, protects wildlife habitats and reduces the amount of rubbish that ends up in the ground or pollutes the air.
During Recycle Week, everyone is encouraged to work together to rescue items that don’t belong in the bin. You can join in by checking for recycling symbols, placing foil, bottles and cardboard in the correct bin and encouraging your friends to recycle too. The aim is for the actions people take during Recycle Week to become positive habits that last a lifetime.
Having watched the video clip, use the Time to Talk ‘Hands Down Class Discussion’ prompt below to discuss the question: What do you think would happen if no one recycled?

Recommended Activities:
The Mobius Loop♻️ is the most commonly used recycling symbol in the UK. It is a triangle of three twisted, chasing arrows. It symbolises that something can be recycled by being collected, processed and reused.
🎨Main activity: Create a recycle-themed art piece that includes the Mobius Loop.
Things to consider:
1) The design of the loop: The arrows could be leaves with insects that symbolise a healthy planet.
2) Images inside the loop: This could be a factory turning something old into something new or a child using a recycling bin.
3) Colour scheme: This could be colours that represent a healthy planet such as blue for clean water and green for growth.
