Time to Talk Maths: Penguin Thief
Further Challenges
- Once you have calculated the number of stones stolen from Arwel’s nest, discuss with a partner whether or not you needed to use all of the clues.
- Before Arwel’s rocks were stolen, his nest contained 115 rocks of different shapes and sizes. How many rocks did Arwel’s nest contain following the theft? (This is a good opportunity to show off your knowledge of column subtraction with one exchange.)
- Play Guess My Number. Choose a secret number from the 1-100 number square and write down 4 or 5 clues that will lead to it. Invite a friend to use the clues and identify the secret number.
