  • Like many other animals, the monarch butterfly migrates south for the winter. Some migrate up to 3,000 miles! Pretend that you are a monarch butterfly. What would you do? Where would you go? Start your sentence with “If I could fly like a butterfly …”
  • Imagine that the Spy Hummingbird has come to life. It has its own thoughts and feelings. Write a diary entry pretending that you’re the Spy Hummingbird filming these monarch butterflies! How do you feel? What do you see? What makes you the perfect spy?
  • The monarch butterfly has the same life cycle as other butterflies. Write a sentence about each part of the life cycle of a butterfly. Use these words to help you: eggs, milkweed leaf, caterpillar, chrysalis, monarch butterfly.
