Writing Ideas

  • Write a short conversation between Zalika (the hyena leader featured in the main clip) and Olly the ostrich. Thinking about what you have learnt in the lesson, use inverted commas to show what is being spoken aloud.
  • Imagine that you are an ostrich fed up with hyenas trying to eat your chicks. Write a letter to Zalika (the pack leader), expressing your anger at his clan’s actions and why the hyenas should look elsewhere to satisfy their appetites.
  • Imagine that you opened your front door one morning and on the step was a gigantic egg. Beneath it was a note that said, “Please handle with care!” Can you write a short story about the egg and what happened to it?
