Writing Ideas

  • Imagine that you are an otter pup and that you want to send your parents a letter to tell them all about your day. Use these questions to think about what to tell them. What did you enjoy? What made you frightened? Who did you meet? Where did you go? What did you learn? What was your favourite bit of the day?
  • You are Spy Otter – the otter look-a-like machine with cameras for eyes and microphones for ears. Write a recount of your day, from arriving among the sea otters to watching the otters tangling themselves up in the kelp. What did you see? What did you hear?
  • Think of all the sounds you heard in the film clip. e.g. ice falling, kelp squelching, otters splashing. Write a description of each sound and what was making that sound. Think of interesting ways to describe the sounds so that someone who has not seen the clip could imagine them.
