Writing Ideas

  • Imagine you are a zookeeper looking after several sulphur-crested cockatoos. Write about some of the antics that these loveable rogues get up to whilst under your care.
  • Write a diary entry as the lady in the clip, describing what you found when you got in from work. What did your house look like? What had the little hooligans been up to that day? Try to include different prepositions in your writing.
  • A ‘list poem’ gets its name from the fact that most of the poem is made up of a long list of things. Write the middle of this list poem to describe the sulphur-crested cockatoo.

The Vandal

Have you heard of a mischievous bird?

He likes to make himself known to all.

He  …

He …

He …

So lock your windows and your door,

You never know if he’ll be round once more!
