Writing Ideas

• Get into groups of four and imagine you are one of the four numbat siblings. What would be your conversation as you emerge from the burrow and move forward into the forest? See if you can record this conversation using direct speech. Follow the Natural Curriculum link to remind yourself about the rules for writing direct speech.
• Imagining you are a termite, write a letter to the numbats to try and persuade them not to eat so many of you every day. Are there other insects that you would recommend? What can you offer in return?
• Invent a machine that would help numbats find termites and then write a set of instructions for operating it.
