Writing Ideas

  • Imagine you are a lion, whose sleep was disturbed by the agama lizard rudely jumping on you just so he could get some flies. Write a letter of complaint to the agama community, outlining why you are disgruntled and what you hope to change in the future.
  • Imagine you are an agama lizard that is NOT the dominant male (either a subordinate male or a female). You are tired of the dominant male flaunting his fancy colours and thinking he is better than the rest of you. Write a speech to your fellow agama lizards explaining why you believe all agamas are equal and should be treated as such.
  • Although an acrostic poem often uses the first letter of each line, it doesn’t have to. Can you make up one about an agama lizard using letters at the end of the line or in different places within each line? Don’t forget – the letters that spell out the word are still capitalized.

Example:

The so called rAinbow lizard

Vivid aGainst the lion’s yellow hues

The miniAture stealth bomber

Must reMain undetected.

A dice with deAth.
