Challenge 1

Watch the clip again. See if you can use all of the words in the World Wall to write about the main events that took place. Challenge yourself to write as precisely as you can in as few words as possible. Between 30 and 40 would be a good target to aim for.

1) The African porcupine forages for food at ground level as it can’t climb trees. It has a varied diet that consists of bark, roots, fruits and berries. It will sometimes eat farm crops; consequently, many are killed each year as farmers consider them to be pests.

2) Some people think that porcupines can fire their quills out from their bodies when feeling threatened, but this is simply not true! However, their quills are easily detached once they have become impaled in an animal’s skin. The quills are then hard to remove due to their overlapping scales.
