Although they are armed with stinging tentacles, jellyfish have many predators. Tuna, sharks, swordfish and sea turtles are all known to eat these remarkable creatures.

Use PAWS, counters and column subtraction to solve the following word problem.

During a storm, a leatherback turtle, which weighed 640 kilograms, swam into a swarm of 404 lion’s mane jellyfish. Of these jellyfish,165 were eaten by the hungry turtle.

How many lion’s mane jellyfish were not eaten by the turtle?
