  • In the dining room of the lodge, there was a large bowl of fruit. In the bowl there was a mixture of five different types of fruit. 1/3 of the fruit in the bowl consisted of 3 lemons, 6 oranges and two pineapples. There was the same amount of mangoes in the bowl as there were bananas. How many mangoes were there in the fruit bowl?
  • Imagine that in the dining room of the lodge, there was a single doughnut on a plate. Bella the baboon said, “I can share this doughnut equally amongst my 8 friends with just 3 cuts of a knife.” Do you agree with Bella? This fabulous Doughnut Challenge appears on the NRICH website.
