Oracy-enriched Grammar Lessons and Maths Investigations
About
Time to Talk is a collection of oracy-enriched grammar lessons and maths investigations, designed to help children build vocabulary, strengthen their critical thinking and develop the confidence to articulate ideas clearly.
We’ve enriched some of our most popular lessons with oracy activities because we believe spoken language is the bridge to deeper learning. When children talk, they think. By embedding structured, high-quality talk opportunities into grammar and maths teaching, we help children make meaningful connections between concepts, language and the world around them.
Time to Talk Activities
Each lesson has a variety of engaging talk-based activities. Some, like Hands Down Class Discussion and Maths in Context, centre around the captivating natural history video clips, sparking curiosity and initiating respectful dialogue.
Others, such as Detective Partnered Talk and Guess My Word, support children in articulating their understanding of key grammar or mathematical concepts, helping them master subject-specific vocabulary.
Reflective sessions, like Learning Power, give children the chance to step back and consider how they’ve learned, not just what they’ve learned and encourage a growth mindset.
