  • Review a flower. Imagine you are a long-tongued bat, who has just feasted on the nectar from a flower. Describe the flower, what it tasted like, looked like, and how easy it was for you to get using your long tongue. Would you recommend that flower to other long-tongued bats?
  • A Cinquain poem has 5 lines and has the following pattern:

Line 1 – a noun (the subject of the poem)

Line 2 – two adjectives (to describe the subject)

Line 3 – three verbs that end in -ing (actions perfomed by the subject)

Line 4 – a four word phrase (that expresses feelings about the subject)

Line 5 –  a noun (either a synonym for the subject or a word that sums it up)

Create a Cinquain poem to describe the long-tongued bat.

  • Imagine that you are the long-tongued bat from the video. Write an instruction guide to give to the baby long-tongued bats from your colony to prepare them for their first flight and nectar meal. Explain step-by-step how they should find the perfect flower and how to use their tongue to get the nectar from the flower.
