Bryony looked at the bar chart opposite and said, “There are 6 times the amount of brown shrimp than common starfish in the Cornish rock pools.”

Did you know?

If you’re lucky, you may discover a common starfish in a rock pool. A starfish can regrow an arm if it has been lost to a predator. An arm can take months (or even years to fully regenerate), so it has to be a pretty serious situation for a starfish to lose one!

Whiteboard Challenges

This bar chart shows the different numbers of creatures present in 10 Cornish rock pools.

1) Which creature was found the least amount of times in the Cornish rock pools?

2) What is the difference between the number of strawberry anemone and the number of common goby that were found in the rock pools?

3) How many squat lobsters, common starfish, and brown shrimps were there altogether in the rock pools?
