Further Challenges

Look closely at the photograph. It shows a herd of African elephants at a waterhole. Can you answer the following questions?

  • How many ears are there in the photo?
  • How many legs are there?
  • How many toes are there?
  • How many toenails are there?

(Fact: Each elephant foot has 5 toes, but not every toe has a nail. An African elephant has 5 toenails on each of its front feet and 4 on each of its back feet.)
